DRAUPADI MURMU, THE FIRST TRIBAL COMMUNITY PESIDENT OF INDIA, EDUCATION, CAREER AND HONOURS

 

  Draupadi Murmu is an Indian Politician who is serving as the 15th  and current president of India since 25 July 2022. She was born on 20 june 1958. She is the first person belonging to the tribal community and also the second women after Pratibha Patil hold to the office. She is from Uparbeda, Mayurbhanj, Odisha India.

EDUCATION 

Murmu studied elementry education at the local primary school in Uparbela. For higher studies moved to Bhubaneswar. She completed secondary education from girl's high school  unit-2, and graduated in BA from Rama Devi Women's college.

PERSONAL LIFE 

She married Shyam Charan Murmu who is a banker in 1980.she had two sons and a daughter. Her husband, two sons, mother, and a brother all died in a spun of 7 years from 2009 to 2015. Then she becomes follower of the Brahma Kumaris spritual movement.

CAREER

Professionally she worked as an assistant professor at the Shri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research Institute, Rairangpur. Where she taught Hindi, Odia, Maths and Geography. She never claimed for a full salary at the school. After some times she got a government job a junior assistant at the irrigation department  of the Government of Odisha.

POLITICAL CAREER 

Draupadi Murmu joined the Bharatiya Janta Party[BJP] in 1997. She was elected as the councilor of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat. In 2000, she became the chair person of Rairangpur  Nagar Panchayat and also served as the National vice-president of BJP scheduled Tribes Morcha.

She was also a government of Jharkhand, Minister of state for fisheries and Animal, Minister of state for commerce and Transport and Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

HONOURS

Draupadi Murmu, in 2007, received the Nil Kantha Award for the best MLA by Odisha Legislative Assembly.
